Outgrowing Your Motorcycle Part 3

When you learn to MASTER the 600 there is almost nothing you can’t do on it. Most people that purchase one use them to learn to ride because you don’t have the EXCESS power the big bikes have. Which of course makes them easier to learn on but they never master it. Instead they take the easy way out and get a bike with a bigger engine to satisfy their need for speed.

The last time I was on my 600 I scared the #(*&$@ out of myself because I had forgotten about the power it has starting a 7500 rpms until I hit it while accelerating. Once I got used to it again I had the time of my life.

I can wheelie it, in 2nd gear, without using the clutch. On many occasions I’ve blown past solo riders on 750s and 1000s in a high speed turn when I have a passenger. So you know how I do when I’m solo! And save those unusual situations were we are on the road with no cars I can keep the bigger bikes in striking distance until we reach a turn at which point I’m all over them.

I once remember being out with about 10 other riders. There was on a 750 and the rest on 1000’s. Someone made a joke that if we get chased I would be the one to take the ticket because I was on a 600. When it was go time let’s just say big mouth and 5 or 6 other bikes were in my rear view.

A wise man once said it’s The Man not the machine. I concur.

Shiny Side Up!
