Bengals QB rips Browns
The Browns should need no added motivation to beat the Bengals, who basically knocked them out of the playoffs last season.
But if they want some, here it is.
It seems that news of the Browns’ five prime-time national TV appearances next season already isn’t sitting well with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer.
In case you haven’t read it elsewhere, here’s what Palmer, normally a classy professional, had to say Wednesday during a media availability in Cincinnati:
“I was as shocked as anybody to see that because they’re still a ways away from being a …”
Apparently sensing he had said too much, Palmer finished that sentence after a pause by adding, “They weren’t even in the playoffs.”
True enough, the Browns were a game away from the postseason, finishing 10-6. They fell short on the final day of the regular season when Tennessee beat Indianapolis.
“I think it’s a lot of hype early,” Palmer reportedly huffed. “Just like every year, there’s hype around one or two teams early.”
And then there was this prediction from Palmer on the hype surrounding the Browns:
“It’ll fizzle out once they start playing games.”
You don’t usually hear too much trash talk in the spring. Before the draft yet. At the very least, Palmer’s comments should give fans of both teams something to talk about between now and when the teams first meet Sept. 28 at Paul Brown Stadium.

Girlish figure huh? Yeah I would say 6-6 250 is pretty girlish. It is absurd for a team who didn’t win their division or make the playoffs to have 5 primetime games, when the SB champs have 3?By Jeff

I got a much needed laugh from Palmer’s comments. Perhaps he might want to consider keeping a low profile as the Bengals deal with arrests and no shows. As to the Browns not making the playoffs, perhaps he has forgotten how his team ranked last season. Don’t be jealous Carson!By Howie Feltersnatch

I am a true-blue Bengals fan but the Browns earned the additional exposure. I don’t think they deserve five PT games but thats the way it goes if its brown flush it down.WHO DEY ALL THE WAY.By Jack

I thought one person in the bungle organization had class, I guess I was wrong. The Bungles have had one good season in 12-15 years, but they still believe they can talk down to other teams, funny.By Don

Carson Palmer’s body is going to have to cash a check that his mouth and arrogance just wrote. Maybe he will be bale to dump the ball off to Chad….or maybe not….then he could always throw it to Chris Henry….NOT! Looks like TJ better be at his best every week because that is all the Bengals have to throw to! GO BROWNS!!!! I will sit back and thoroughly enjoy watching the whoopin thatt he Bengals are going to receive throughout their long upcoming season.By yo

You know there are Browns fans writing comments when you see the grammer used in the responses. I think the Browns deserve a appearance or two but five, that is excessive. Oh well, good reminder to call the book. As far as the blogs on police records, doesn’t the article dated 4/5/08 say “Browns DB arrested”. Oops, that assumes Browns fan can read. Chris Henry is available. Can’t wait to watch Chad celebrate in the Dog Pound, again.By jerry

Well Mr. Bungle is jelous! Let’s look at this real close: Browns 10-6 Bungles 7-9, 6-10 I don’t know and it dosn’t matter they had a loosing record. They had more arrested players than wins, great team work guys. I know- we could watch them primetime (on Americas Most Wanted) that would give them plenty of exposure. Fact of the matter is this Mr. Crybaby, the bungles had one year of success and they can’t move on from “what might have been.” The Browns are what the bungles want to be, WINNERS and a TEAM, not just a bunch of overpaid crybabies. War Chad sitting out on you losers and Carson having more int’s than td’s by a 2:1 ratio.By Andrew

Carson won an AFC North Title. Does any current Brown have that on their resume besides Gary Baxter?????By Andrew

Oh that’s right, Jamal Lewis has that also since he was a member of the only good thing to come out of Cleveland, the Baltimore Ravens. Hawk I find it hard to believe that you don’t know that the Bengals won 7 games last year, because #6 knocked flushed the Browns into the same bowl that the Bengals were in, out of the playoffs. No one should talk until you’ve really won anything, and a pro bowl appearance by Derrick Anderson doesn’t count.By Yippee

I was quite surprised to see Palmer commenting on something so irrelevant. Shouldn’t he be focused on trying to piece together his fractured team? (and I use the word “team” loosely). Or, better yet, Maybe Carson should just shut up and color!!By reggie98ud

I find it amusing that Browns fans point out that Cinci had “only one good season.” Um… Isn’t that all the Browns have had? I am a Packers fan. Sure we had a couple of down years, but plenty of success. Because I am a Packer Fan, I can respect the devotion of Browns fans, but guys, don’t let it go to our head yet, the Bungles fans are right, you haven’t won anything yet… just wait until after this season to talk your smack because no one else in the Division should put up much of a fight against Cleveland for the AFC North. The Browns should walk in an easy Division this year.
