Pryor comfortable with Ohio State
Penn State was “too country.”
Oregon was too far away.
Michigan was an option and “Coach Rod is a great coach.”
But in the end, Ohio State was Terrelle Pryor’s choice. Probably always was.
Pryor put an end to all the speculation today, March 19, when he signed his national letter of intent to play football at OSU.
Wearing an OSU hat and T-shirt, Pryor looked cool under the media glare. The No. 1-rated prep football player in the nation even apologized to a Detroit reporter because he didn’t choose Michigan.
Maybe that was why Pryor held off on his decision. Maybe he had trouble saying no. Last month, he drew a huge crowd on Signing Day, only to announce that he had nothing to announce.
“I don’t like being in the spotlight at all,” Pryor said today. “I didn’t ask to be No. 1 in the country.”
Well, Pryor had better get used to the spotlight. Being an OSU football player in Columbus is hardly an anonymous existence.
Pryor said that he expected to be used much like Florida used Tim Tebow his freshman season — as a change-up to an established senior starter. For Tebow, it was Chris Leak. For OSU, it’s Todd Boeckman.
But in 2009, the Buckeye offense should be Pryor’s to direct.
One of his goals is to get “Coach Tress over that hump” of losing national championshiop games.
OSU fans will expect nothing less.

I’ve seen him play 5 times. He can run ok in the lower level competition in high school He can’t throw and he’s a huge prima-donna. never can keep him happy. He’s a me me guy and a distraction to the teamBy Dan

Hey Bill, did you happen to catch the ARMY all-star game New Year’s day? Pryor was MVP and seemed to be running and throwing fine. Sounds like sour grapes!By whatever

one player doesnt make a team. they will still struggle in the NC if they make it, especially against another SEC team. we will find out just how good they are when they play USC. just another over-rated season coming up! over-rated like TP!By whatever

Hey whatever, how can you say he is overrated he is 6-6 230 and runs a sub 4.3 40 for a QB. Vince young was a game changer and wasn’t even that fast. Yes he will have to develop throwing, but after watching what the Buckeye coaches did with Troy Smith there is no reason why Pryor won’t be even better. You have to remember we don’t rebuild we reload, that is why we are always in contention for the National Title.By quitcryingbill

Good news, and let’s hope for the best. Sometimes the over-hyped players don’t work out or get into trouble. Pryor needs to come in with some humility and open to learning the system as ONE PART of that system. Then, he could do great things.By whatever

you want to compare this kid to Troy Smith!?! TS was and always will be a “has been”. where is he now and what is he doin? keepin the bench warm!? TP doesnt have the finesse that VY had! VY was as smooth as could be. oh…and by the way, he is 6’6” at 225, not 230. numbers are one thing but playing with the bigger boys is another. lets just wait and see!By Tristen
March 19, 2008 1:14 PM | Link to this
TS is in the competition for the starting job with the Ravens and he played fairly well for a rookie with minimal experience last year. and by the way 5 pounds is how much I was off sounds like you just want to be right so the buckeyes don’t break your heart. Trust me when I say this the Buckeyes are for real and always have been they just choose to play their worst game against SEC foes. Maybe it is mental but as a Buckeye fan you should know that the boys will be there again if they make it past USC.By Prep player

Oh and by the way whatever, if you remember Vince Young was once a freshman that needed to work on his throwing as well, he was a runner in high school and not a thrower much like Pryor. Only time will tell if Pryor is the man but he already has a leg up on VY and that is speed. Speed goes a long way from avoiding rushers and making plays. Pryor only helps the Buckeyes, and if you saw the press conference he is one down to earth guy, who realizes he needs to work on things.By null

As a lifetime michigan fan I’m a little upset about this, but two to three years down the line when coach rod get’s the player’s he needs for his offense this pryor mess won’t matter because we will be beating OSU like Illinois did last year with it’s own spread offense.GO BLUEBy big mike

Hey null why is it you have 2 names “prep player” and “null” or is it just coincidence that there are two different guys with null@email address. It think you are full of it. or maybe if you are signed at OSU why would you bad mouth a teammate, first of all I played college baseball and I know from experience you may not like a player but you never bad mouthed a teammate because all it does is make yourself look bad. so why trash talk a teammate if thats really who you say you areBy null

Well null how else do you explain the same email addresses with just a different ending I think you just like to talk sports like you own them. and by the way I am no wash up I chose to go to school for education not sports I was just fortunate enough to play sports while in school. seems to me u never had that experienceBy null

He’ll be good in college but no NFL QBs come out of Ohio State. Baltimore is lookin to Draft a QB at pick #8 in this years Draft because Troy Smith isnt starter quality. He may be good enough to be a Heisman contender wherever he choose to play…but he’ll be another 4th-5th round draft pick QB coming out of Columbus.By Bo

He’s a narcissist. He’d be better off at Georgia, where players get arrested, spend time in jail, get bailed out, and play the rest of the season. Watch this kid melt down quickly. Everyone’s “feelgood” feelings will be short lived. He’s a live wire on a short fuse. Woody refuses to spin in his grave anymore…gets him sick and dramamine is not available. Bucks…continue to be cheap in player selections and see what it reaps.By Joe

He should learn where is going to play ball, though. According to the Chicagosports.com site, Pryor said “University of Ohio State.” John Cooper once called it Ohio State Stadium and was branded for life and Jeff Gordon called it Wrigley Stadium and didn’t another NASCAR race that year.By Kurt

I think he has a very good head on his shoulders and he took the time to focus on the things he needed to emphasize. I also think he will grow into a fine player for the Buckeyes. I he keeps his head together, he could be one of the greatest players we have had. People just don’t seem to understand what it is like for some of these kids, yes he knows he is good, but again he focused on his high school’s basketball program because that was important at the time. That shows maturity. GO BUCKS and welcome to the team Terrelle!By Harry the Horse
