TWC vs. BTN: Which side are you on?

angry.jpg

So, we got the news this week that two early-season Ohio State games will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Because Time Warner Cable and the BTN don’t yet have a deal, TWC customers have no chance of seeing these games.

We said from the beginning that the Big Ten was taking a big chance with creating this network because it could turn some of its own fans against it. When it comes to upset people, they like to blame one side (or sometimes both).

From conversations I’ve had, I get the sense that half the people blame Time Warner and the other half shakes their fists at the network.

I’m asking to hear from as many folks as possible. Which side do you take?

I recently switched to direct tv. it won’t go out during a thunderstorm, like TW claim’s. The fact of the matter is living in butler county, you can be pulled over at any time, and be ask for your paper’s why would i go to a bar. i’ll be watching my buckeye’s in the backyard with the BBQ.

I have DirecTV and loose signal in a severe thunderstorms. That being said its still better than TWC. BTN has reached agreements with other cable outlets - its only TWC that continues to play hardball.

Sign up for Dish or Direct, or wait for AT&T U-Verse (Dish) to be available, supposedly by the end of July. Tell TW to take a hike.

I can’t say who’s at fault, except both seem to be guilty. I think its a shame we can’t watch the biggest D-1 football program in the state by using free analog air waves. I don’t care who they play. I still want to watch it.

I was patient last year with TWC, but enough! Both sides need to adjust, but TWC stands to be the loser now as the last one to deal. I don’t want to look at a dish in my yard, but i do want to look at my Buckeyes… bottom line, I am tired of being patient and not having the choices available to the rest of the Big 10 neighborhood. As technology advances at lightspeed, print is not the only media that will find new competitors in the very near future.

Their both greedy. That’s the bottom line - $$$. My cousin installs for TW and says BTN wants more $ per customer than TW pays for ESPN. If that’s true, then I hope TW holds out. I’ve had DirecTV for years, so it doesn’t matter for me. My TW was always going out. DirecTV does not go out in most storms. With all the storms so far this year, there have been 2 times it’s gone out and it’s only been for about 5-10 minutes until the worst rain passed. (My cable would be out for 1-2 days.) And they have some free XM radio channels, too. And if you want to change your services, call DTV and it’s done while you’re on the phone - instantly. No waiting for a week for a service guy (sorry, cuz). Never go back to cable!
