I think that Joe did a lot for the community. But I also agree that city council should spend it’s time on more important issues. Let Joe hurry up and have his street. That way city council can quit making excuses and get back to real work, like crapping up the Banks project, alienating the black community, mismanaging city funds, and spending millions of dollars to move a statue 50 feet that no one actually notices the change.

How can we have fish frys and spagehtti dinners when there are foreclosures, wars, potholes and all sorts of problems? Joe had a quiet strength that will go on longer than most of you will ever live!!
This Nuxall guy did nothing for the average person except get our taxes raised for that foolish Elderly Service Levy. He did a commercial saying he hoped his mother would never need it. Give me a break, it is only for people who have never worked in their lives or buns who never saved a dime and lived the good life until they got old. The street should be named, Joe’s Tax Street.
i dont know why people are complaining on here over a street name change grow up and know all your facts first because one taxpayers wont have to put up any money its coming from the reds funds its a damn sign whats that cost a whole $30.00 so cry about it
Joe Nuxhall was an Icon for baseball for the Cincinnati area as a baseball player, Reds baseball announcer, and a very nice person to be remembered. Naming a street for him would be an honor to the person that people in the Cincinnati area loved.

Especially, when it all took place at a retreat area owned by a church! I was either 15 or 16 at the time, but I never cared for him since and can’t believe the Reds rep that drove him actually let him come out in that unfit condition.

The renaming of a street has nothing to do with the way a person has died. Martin Luther King wasn’t given a street named after him just because he was shot on a balcony. The nameing is for how the person lived their life. Nuxhall was not just all about baseball but help in his communtiy a great deal. Has nothing to do with the manner in which he died.

Joe Nuxhull had so many wonderful qualities, made many contributions to the community, and was loved by the community. Could it be you’re a little bit jealous? Changing one street name and its signs isn’t going to cost millions of dollars. Nor will it cost enough to actually go towards any of the issues you mentioned, Sailor. Forest for the trees, y’all. Just one street getting renamed for a longtime contributor to the community.

Apparently some of these bozo’s have no clue why we would want to honor such a man. Maybe that is the problem. There aren’t enough people that would understand Nuxhall’s character and reputation. He was a well-respected man and he earned it the honest way! I say we honor him by naming a street after him!!
Joe never considered himself a big shot. He was a real human being who cared deeply about the Hamilton-Fairfield-Cincinnati area and made a great personal effort to make it a better area than it was when he arrived. He had a great efect on all those communities and his death is our loss. Anything we can do to keep that selfless spirit alive is well worth it. Obviously, you never met the man. But, if you have been in this area any length of time, you have had benefits from him.
So unless you are a big shot and have some disease then you dont have a street named after you. Ok I have a friend who died of cancer, lets see now, they were not a radio announcer so they dont have a street named after them. I say leave the damn street names alone; Oh Dr B I did forget to take my meds;
