Gas rates comparison

When Gas and Water Director Jim Collins told me that “We’ll still be the cheapest in Ohio, but not by a lot,” he wasn’t kidding. Hamilton officials recently released a graph of its electric prices following the announcement that natural gas bills would rise for the third straight month.

The graph shows that Hamilton’s customers will pay less than Duke’s: about $7 a year on average. Though, Collins also told me that Duke’s rates will likely increase soon as well because the company is paying the same high prices for natural gas that the city is.
