Finding the perfect gift
I personally know of a few people who take gift giving in their relationship to extreme levels of spending for the holidays, birthdays, etc.
And it’s true, you can spend an entire week’s pay (or more) on someone you love buying them the “perfect” gift for Valentine’s Day. And it might even make them happy or bring a genuine smile to their face.
Or you could opt for a simple approach: Time together. All too often in today’s society time with your significant other is cut short by work, school, children, other family obligations and more. There are couples who rarely see each other even though they are very much in love.
So instead of depleting your bank accounts, give the gift of yourselves for Valentine’s Day. Make a plan to spend the day together. Whether you go out for a “date” and see a movie or have a meal, head for Cox Arboretum if the weather permits or just stay in and play board games or watch movies it doesn’t matter as long as your doing something together and enjoying each others’ company.
I’ll stop preaching now. Next up will be some sensible (but still nice!) gifts you can buy for your Valentine.
