Lakota West gets \"Wicked\" | Lakota Schools News and Issues

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!

In case you haven’t noticed, Lakota students are back in school today. Traffic was definitely heavier with everyone on the road this morning. I dropped into the new East Freshman building, and students were picking up their schedules. The atmosphere was definitely charged with excitement. I am heading over to West to see the new renovations. I will be interviewing some Lakota East jazz students that made it into the state honor band, and I may just head to one of the elementary school buildings for lunch.

What kinds of back-to-school stories would you like to see? I would love to hang out at a bus stop for the first day of kindergarten? Any takers?

Lakota West gets “Wicked”

Well, it may not be wicked, but they are singing songs from the Broadway musical “Wicked.” The Lakota West Theatre is hosting a fundraiser for a new performing arts scholarship. The 8 p.m. May 10 event is called Broadway Bound, A Dessert Cabaret. The cost is $10 for a night of song and dance featuring students and alumni. The evening will feature songs from Broadway’s most popular shows, including Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Little Shop of Horrors. The performing arts scholarship is in memory Nancy Goodwin, West Theatre’s founding choreographer. Last spring, Goodwin lost a long battle with breast cancer.
“Nancy was crucial to the founding of West Theatre, and we are honored to offer this scholarship to one of our talented seniors in her memory,” organizers stated in a release.

Download an order form lakotawesttheatre.com or purchase at Lakota West High School’s main office—starting April 21 and offered during the week at 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dessert is included in the ticket price. The following performers will be featured.
