Summer school zones

So, I finally have an answer… sort of. I talked to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, and they said they will enforce school zones this summer if summer school is taking place in the building. What I haven’t been able to track down is where all the summer schools will be held. It is rather random from what I understand. So, in the meantime, if you see a lot of cars or children at a school during restricted hours, slow down. I will keep you posted if I find out specifics on schools. I know the high schools may be locations throughout the summer.

Youth In Philanthropy is recruiting new members for 2008-2009 school year.

The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty’s Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) Advisory Board is recruiting new members for the 2008-2009 school year. The YIP Advisory Board is looking for high school students (grades 9-12) who live in West Chester or Liberty Township and have a passion to make a difference in our community.

Developed in partnership with the Pulse Journal, Youth in Philanthropy empowers youth in the community while introducing students to philanthropy and community development. The program provides hands-on experience that benefits both the participating students and local charities. Youth In Philanthropy students work in the community to raise money, build endowment funds and make grants to non-profit organizations working to improve the lives of youth our community. Engaging youth in philanthropy provides an opportunity for young people to be active, lifelong community citizens.

“YIP has taught me a lot about our local community,” said Nick Reinel, a Senior a Lakota East High School. “Through our fundraisers and grants we have been able to make an impact and improve our community while having fun at the same time. YIP gave me the opportunity to work with students from other area schools and I would encourage all interested students to become a part of this great program.”

Interested students can contact The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty for an application and additional information by calling 513-874-5450 or online at www.wclfoundation.com http://www.wclfoundation.com/ . A informational meeting will be held at The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty on Saturday, May 3rdst at 10:00AM.

The Foundation works to encourage, support and facilitate philanthropy and improve the quality of life in the West Chester/Liberty area.
