May is National Bike Month | Living Green

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…

So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?

Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?

A time to call for more action?

Or something in-between?

Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

May is National Bike Month

Back to one of my favorite Earth-friendly subjects, bike commuting.

As the title says, this is national bike month, designated by the League of American Bicyclists. Bike-to-work advocates traditionally take this month to promote two-wheel commuting, and 2008 is no exception. The League does not list any official events closer than Columbus and Kent, but there are some local resources whose calendars I’d suggest you check for ways to celebrate.

Trek Store Cincinnati has a series of commuter clinics scheduled for this month.

West Chester Cyclery is another local shop that can provide good info for local riders.

Cincinnati Cycle Club is kicking off the month with its annual Chili Century (there are shorter rides, for us mere mortals). It takes place tomorrow in Goshen.

Dayton Cycling Club has information on two Bike to Work Days in the Gem City.

MoBo Bicycle Co-op in Cincinnati is a tremendous resource for those looking to make cycling a bigger part of their lifestyle. They have a couple of events this month.

Another useful resource for events in the Cinci area is the Queen City Bike blog. Check it out, and tell ‘em Living Green sent you.
