Some quick notes to start the week
It’s Monday and here’s a few short items to start the week off:
First off, Middletown’s Finance Department said that 22 claims have been approved by the city’s insurance carrier for vehicle damage as a result of potholes. The claims ranged from $250 to $500. So far, there have been 135 claims filed with the city.
Most of the damage for many of these claims being paid were in the Oxford State Road area, which was one of the first locations the city contractors have been focusing their attention on as they fill these potholes. Crews from the city and private contractors have started a full-fledged assault to patch potholes throughout Middletown.
Next up, City Council Clerk Betsy Parr, currently the president of the Ohio Municipal Clerks Association, is one of two nominees for the Clerk of Year title.
Parr and Tami Kelly, clerk of council in Grove City, are up for the title which will be announced later this week at the association’s annual conference at Mohican State Lodge, southeast of Mansfield.
Parr said it was “an honor just to be nominated.”
And finally, the city’s parks will get some extra help during the month of May from the Middletown Municipal Court.
Bud Rossi, clerk of courts, confirmed that offenders with non-violent, minor offenses who receive community service as part of their sentence will be doing their “time” in one of the city’s parks.
Rossi said the court will implement the program once the Middletown Park Board forwards a schedule and locations where the community service needs to be performed.
