More Economic Development trips planned
A city delegation will be heading to Las Vegas to meet with various retailers to consider Middletown.
More than 50,000 attendees are expected at the ReCon 2008, the annual meeting and trade show of the International Council of Shopping Centers. It is scheduled for May 18-21.
The delegation is paying its own way to the event, no city funds will be used.
The delegation will include: Mayor Lawrence P. Mulligan Jr.; City Manager Judy Gilleland; Economic Development Director Bill Murphy; Ken Cohen, president of Middletown Moving Forward; Kimm Coyner of the Warren County Economic Development Department; and Candace Klein of Property Advisors, a Cincinnati-based real estate consulting firm assisting the city.
In addition, Gilleland said in her weekly memo to council that she will be working with Duane Gordon from the Community Foundation to plan a trip to Paducah, Ky., where that city has infused their downtown with artists.
Gilleland said she hopes to have members of the business and finance community, as well as local arts supporters, travel to Paducah to get some ideas on how to develop a similar effort in Middletown.
