Atrium signs deal for field

Atrium Medical Center has signed a deal with Lebanon City Schools to purchase naming rights to the district’s stadium, my fellow education reporter Justin McClelland reported online today.

Atrium will pay a $500,000 donation, $25,000 for 20 years, to Lebanon, who will now call their stadium Atrium Field at VanGrift Stadium.

Atrium also has similar agreements with Franklin, Springboro and Mason. I checked in with members of the Middletown Board of Education today about any possible deals being discussed for Middletown.

Board President the Rev. Greg Tytus and Vice President Katie McNeil both declined to reveal much detail about talks between the district and the hospital, but both stressed Atrium is one of the district’s partners.

McNeil said talks are ongoing with Atrium as Middletown looks to its master plans for the high school and middle school buildings.

Middletown should find out in 2010 or 2011 the status of state funding for renovation or new construction on the buildings, according to Debbie Alberico, district communications specialist.
