Dane Romero, a 2005 Lakota West High graduate, closed out a successful football career at Wofford College on Saturday, Nov. 29.
The Terriers were defeated 38-35 by host James Madison in the opening round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs, but Romero sure put on a show.
The 6-foot-1, 218-pound running back rushed for 87 yards and four TDs, giving him 1,078 yards and 23 TDs on the season — the second-most in school history in a single season.
Romero also was a first-team All-Southern Conference selection.
“His success is not a surprise,” West coach Larry Cox said. “He was one of my most competitive players that refused to lose. He had a great career at Wofford.”
