The long arm of “American Idol” forces concert cancelation
Perhaps David Archuleta’s dad had the right idea but “American Idol” producers want to have total control over where - when the runner-up performs. E! Online is reporting that producers of the “American Idol” have intervened and asked that a charity planned by the runner-up’s dad be cancelled due to “contractual obligations.”
The show was billed as “Back Home with David Archuleta” and was scheduled for tomorrow, June 6. E! is reporting that tickets were to be sold for the event for $1 each. David’s agent is quoted as saying “(the show) would be a no-go because the angel-voiced 17-year-old was not allowed to perform at any non-Idol sanctioned gigs. Not even an event whose entire proceeds were earmarked for charity.”
Seventy-five cents of each ticket was reportedly to be split between two charities; Multiple Sclerosis Society and Make-a-Wish Foundation.
David’s dad is reported as sayings the show would be rescheduled at a later time.
