2008 Cityfolk Festival… it’s on the way!
Just got a flyer in the mail for this summer’s Cityfolk Festival … happening again this year, free admission at Riverscape in downtown Dayton.
Looks like a fun lineup this year, including a bigger, better-known name than in most years: Marty Stuart. Not that he doesn’t belong, but everybody who goes to the Cityfolk Fest knows that they may not know hardly anybody performing, and that discovery of new music is the entire, delightful point.
Stuart and his bluegrass/old country stuff will be happening when the festival runs July 3-5. Also on tap: Blue Highway, bluegrass; Texas R&B star Ruthie Foster; The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, with N’Awlins jazz; Geno Delofose and French Rockin’ Boogie (I Just love their name!); old-time string tunes with the Corndrinkers; the Slavic Soul Party, which just sounds cool; Son del Caribe; the Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band, and about a dozen other groups and artists.
It’s always a great time… You going? It’s free, like we said….
