West’s Lippert headed to state

An update from reporter Steven Matthews, who is covering the Division I tennis tournament today at Princeton.

Lakota West junior Wyatt Lippert, who placed third at state as a freshman and sophomore, won two matches today to advance to the semifinals and clinch a state at next week’s state tourney.

West’s Taylor Broda won his first-round match, and is will face St. Xavier’s Patrick Bandy in the quarterfinals.

Mason’s Chris Hall won his first match as well. Hall won’t be back on the court until 4 p.m. today. He had to leave Princeton to take an Advanced Placement test for college.

Middletown’s dynamic doubles team — defending state champs Michael Cole and Patrick Hamning — rolled through their first-round match, and are facing a team from St. X with a berth to state on the line.

The Mason doubles team of Robert Eberhard-Sameam Shahrestani are on court now for their first match.
