Stoker: Reynolds latest action political move

West Chester Twp. Trustee Catherine Stoker said today, Oct. 2, she won’t believe Butler County Auditor Roger Reynolds’ desire to lower property valuation next year until she sees it.

Reynolds promised today to drop appraised home values in 2009, something he said the state forbid him to do this year during the reappraisal.

Here’s an excerpt from the news release:

“Reynolds has made several requests upon the State Tax Commissioner for an extension of the 2008 property reappraisal. The extension would allow time for the market to stabilize. Reynolds has been consistently told no. Therefore, Reynolds is taking the matter into his own hands on behalf of county property owners.”

See today’s response from the state and Reynolds’ opponent in the auditor’s race this November, Democrat Jack Zettler here.

Here’s the rest of the release. (Click the upper right corner to enlarge the box.)

After Reynolds, a Republican, presented a check to West Chester Trustees Sept. 23 as part of a rebate on collection fees, Stoker, a Democrat, urged the auditor to “show some backbone.” (Here’s that story.)

In response to Reynolds’ announcement, Stoker said, “I’m glad he’s saying that, but I’m waiting for some action.”

“It’s been my observation that some people will say anything during an election year.”

Stoker also said she wished Reynolds was more proactive. “He’s reacting to people that are saying this (the 2008 reappraisal) is wrong.”

What do you think about Reynolds’ announcement? Will it help east some pain for local home and property owners? Will it make a difference considering this year?

“It’s been my observation that some people will say anything during an election year.” Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Catherine is doing the same thing when she says that. You think she actually cares about people’s house valuations going up? Doubt it, but it doesn’t matter, it’s an election year and she’s saying whatever she thinks will get her party’s candidate elected into that position.

Mrs Stoker: I have come to you in the past and you tried to understand but this time YOU are being a politician. Just look at some of the appraisals and you can see what has happened. We called Mr Reynolds and he listened to us. Some of the items listed on our appraisal was untrue. So he has helped us to understand what has happened. When are those who represent US going to start listening to US and not decide what is best for US because WE do not understand government? ……. P-leaseee…we understand beaucracy now and how misunderstood those who represent US… do not understand US!! Have a heart…investigate before procrastinate.

Our taxes went up drastically & the house next door has not mowed their backyard all summer & there is stuff all over the yard, front & back. Has been like this since we moved in even though the health department has been called, there are 2 empty houses across the street also. But a friend of mine, same neighborhood, is a neighbor of a relative of Reynold’s opposition & my friend’s house is much nicer than mine & their taxes went down? Hum? What’s up?

When it comes to sucking money from taxpayers, Stoker is like a dog at a fire hydrant convention. Just watch any West Chester Township meeting as she talks just to hear herself, and votes to approve every single ridiculous expenditure, approves rehiring double dippers, keeps the lawyers wealthy and approves the township deals that will ensure she leads a sweet life when shes out of politics.
