Shaw named to GIT dean's list

Aaron James Andersen Shaw of Fairfield Twp. was recently named to the 2006 fall semester dean's list at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Pierce named Princess at Apple Blossom Festival

Lauren Paige Pierce, daughter of Joshua and Christine Pierce of Fairfield, was recently named a Princess to serve in the Court of Queen Shenandoah LXXX for the 2007 Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Va.

Lauren, representing Massunutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va, is a senior on the debate team, softball team, and MVP of the volleyball team.

Barnes and Bauer sign with U of C

Fairfield High School seniors Erika Barnes and Kelcey Bauer recently signed letters of intent to play collegiate sports with the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

Barnes signed as part of the NAIA Division 1 volleyball team. She will major in sports management. She currently holds a 3.2 GPA, has been awarded two varsity letters, was chosen as GMC athlete of the week for both volleyball and basketball, and has been consistently ranked Top 10 in the city for volleyball aces and basketball three-pointers.

Bauer received a full ride by earning the Presidential Academic Scholarship and an athletic scholarship as part of the tennis team. She will major in education. She currently holds a 4.16 GPA and ranks 33 in her class. She is a four-year varsity letter winner, three time ALL GMC Academic Team, member of the National Honor Society, and qualified for the district tennis tournament in 2006.

Rogers awarded scholarship to Germany

Ursuline Academy senior Lauren Rogers, daughter of Andrew and Carol Rogers of Fairfield, has been awarded a scholarship for study in Germany by the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program. Only 250 American high school students are invited to participate in the exchange, which lasts for one school year. During that time, students live with a host family, attend a German high school and participate in many cultural and touring excursions.

Lauren is a four-year German student and traveled last summer with an Ursuline student group to a sister school in Aachen, Germany; Ilmenau, the sister city of Blue Ash; and Berlin. She will postpone her freshman year of college to participate in this exchange.
