The predominantly junior and senior choir of 56 members will be singing with the Cincinnati Pops orchestra as part of the Magical Music Of Disney weekend concert.
"It's an amazing opportunity," she said. "No high school students ever get to do something like this. Cincinnati Pops is one of the greatest orchestras."
The May 9-11 concert has taken quite a bit of preparation, she said, leaving no time for other competitions.
"We've done state a lot," she said. "This is a lot bigger than state and looks good on a college application."
Taylor Williams, 18, said the music is difficult, but fun.
"It's different, because it's songs you've grown up with," he said. "There's a lot of parts and you're so used to the melody and learning different parts is kind of difficult."
Erich Kunzel, conductor will direct the choir, who will team up with the Winton Woods High School Chorus and the School for Creative and Performing Arts Children's Choir. Representatives from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music will coordinate the choreography.
"Obviously we have a great relationship with Lakota," said Chris Pinelo, public relations director for the symphony. "We look forward to have a fantastic relationship down the road. We are very strong advocates of music education."
