Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy will open a new preschool this fall, and classes have filled quickly because of the uniqueness of the program, said Natalie Pfister, interim director of enrollment.
"The preschool program is designed to flow with children's natural interests and capabilities at that age," she said. "Children learn through play. The program has been designed building upon the most recent brain development research."

Intended to better prepare students for a "seamless transition" into the private school's college prep kindergarten without further application processes, she said, the curriculum meets state standards and has a Christian focus.
"The demand has been high," she said. "Our program is a really unique composition of an academic foundation where their love of learning will be fostered, but it combines that with a Christ-centered spiritual environment."
Elementary Principal Sandy Breitholle said staff members visited numerous independent preschools to find best practices for the classes. SoaringStart students will have access to art, physical education and music at the school and parents have numerous child care options, she said.
"We were just looking at what made for excellence and how we could bring that to the school we knew we had," she said. "We looked at the Ohio Early Learning Content standards and felt they were excellent, so they will be the basis for our curriculum."
Parents, she said, appreciate the Christian foundation their children receive as well as the academic experience.
"We just feel that 3- and 4-years-olds really do thirst for knowledge and thirst for learning," she said.
