Now called Atrium Field at VanDeGrift Stadium

When the Lebanon Warriors take the field for their first games in August, they will see a lot of changes around VanDeGrift Stadium.
The major differences are the new turf playing surface and the name of the field – now called Atrium Field at VanDeGrift Stadium – purchased through a $500,000 donation by Atrium Medical Center. Atrium will pay $25,000 per year for 20 years, according to Lebanon Supt. Mark North. Atrium has similar agreements with Mason, Franklin and Springboro.

According to North, the Onward Lebanon group exceeded their goal of raising $765,000 in private funds to pay for the installation of the field. The donation from Atrium will be used to cover the maintenance costs of the field, and could pay for the turf to be replaced if needed, North said.
The money raised by Onward Lebanon, led by Spence Cropper and James VanDeGrift, will be used for several additional renovations including upgrades to the restrooms, concession stands, grandstands, locker rooms and the entrance to the stadium.
The field will be installed by the Motz Group, which has also laid synthetic fields at Mason, Kings, Monroe, Franklin and Goshen. North said preliminary ground work will get underway this week, and the field will be ready for use by the fall sports teams.
The first home football game kicks off at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 24.
