Theresa A. Check is the Pigskin-Roundball Gold Medal award winner in the state of Ohio category.
Check, the athletic director at Central State University, coached women's basketball for the Maurauders for 17 seasons. She stepped down as coach in 2001 to concentrate full-time on her duties as the school's AD.

Before she left the sidelines, Check notched a 387-109 mark in 17 seasons. She was the Converse-WBCA NAIA national coach of the year in 1993.
After she became a full-time AD, Check was instrumental in re-establishing the Maurauders' football program. Check also has added men's and women's tennis and men's volleyball as intercollegiate sports during her tenure.
Check also led the Maurauders' move to NCAA Division II, part of her five-year program to elevate the athletic program at Central State.
Check is a member of several halls of fame — Central State Achievement Hall of Fame (1996), Cedarville High School Hall of Fame (2000), NAIA Hall of Fame (2002), Alter High School (2004), Greene County Women's Hall of Fame (2004) and Central State University Athletic Hall of Fame (2007).
Check played basketball at Cedarville High School and graduated as the salutatorian of her class. After attending Adelphi University in New York, she returned to her home and graduated from Central State. As a senior, Check played for coach Bev Levison and was named team MVP. Check received her master's degree in education from Miami University in 1979.
