Jackson signs with Portugal team
SPRINGFIELD — Former Miami University standout Amanda Jackson signed a pro contract to play basketball for Alges, Portugal — a team in the suburb of the country's capital city, Lisbon. The 5-foot-9 guard was cut by the WNBA's Chicago Sky in May.
"I'm excited. I waited all summer patiently for that phone call, and it finally came," said Jackson, the all-time leading scorer at Miami. "You played against people you know or who you played with, and they get the call. And you just kept waiting and hoping.
"But I'm happy. I feel I got a good deal."
Jackson left for Portugal on Friday, Oct. 3.
