HAMILTON — Hamilton native Chris Settle has been promoted to the position of director of athletics and recreation at Miami University-Hamilton.
Settle, a Badin High School graduate, replaces Vince Richardson, who retired in June.
Settle had served as program associate since December 2007, and has been a part-time instructor for Miami University's Department of Kinesiology and Health for several years.
He also has coached women's basketball, men's tennis and women's tennis at MUH.
"We are extremely pleased to hand the reins over to Chris for this important position on our campus," said Dr. Bob Rusbosin, associate dean and director of student services. "He is passionate about helping our students maximize their physical, intellectual, and holistic development.
"We are confident in his ability to effectively lead our highly-competitive intercollegiate athletic program," Rusbosin said, "as well as our diverse and expanding recreational sports program which is available to all students, faculty, and staff."
Among Settle's early priorities will be finalizing schedules for the fall sports teams.
Miami-Hamilton participates in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference in men's baseball, basketball, tennis and golf; and women's fast-pitch softball, basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball and cheerleading.
Settle enrolled at MUH as a freshman in 1993 and played on the Harriers' basketball team all four years as a Miami undergraduate student.
He twice earned all-academic, all-ORCC honors.
He is past president and current adviser of the Hamilton Athletic Club. He previously worked as athletic director for the New Miami Local School District and assistant athletic director for the Kings Local School District.
Settle received his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science (cum laude) degrees in Physical Education, Health and Sport Studies from Miami. He also is a certified strength and conditioning coach.
