Injuries are part of the game

By Josh Betts

Injuries are a part of football.  They're unfortunate, but injuries are a harsh reality.

Any time a player takes the field it could be his last time playing the game.  I don't think about it but I know and realize I could get hurt.

Extras

In our game on Sunday night a national television audience saw one of our quarternacks get hurt.

Jim Sorgi got sacked by Seattle's Julian Peterson, who was blitzing, and had to leave the game. Jimmy hurt his throwing shoulder when he fell awkwardly.  He was in pain when he left the game.

It's difficult to see a teammate get hurt and have to leave the game, especially somebody who has helped me with the offense and learning the quarterback position like Jim has.

I don't know what his condition is and I hope he's fine.  Even though we are competing, it's more a friendship than anything and that makes it tough to see him go down.

I've been in some games and have taken some pretty good shots, so I know what kindof pain he was in.  So far during training camp I haven't been hit, so it's been almost eight months since I was hit last in the Hula Bowl.

But I will say this, the players in the NFL hit harder than the college players.  I've seen some of our running backs get cracked by linebackers or safeties in college,  but here in the NFL the sound when a big hit is so much different than college.

Even though I haven't played in a game, I can't wait to get a chance to play and even take my first hit and get back into the feel of things.  I want to show the coaches I'm a good enough player to play in this league and can take hits at the NFL level.
