Fairfield hosts Mason Friday in a battle of the two lone winless teams in the Greater Miami Conference.

Fairfield and Mason have the two worst offenses in the GMC, averaging 194.5 and 179.8 yards per game, respectively.

Extras

The Indians are coming off of a 16-10 loss at Sycamore; while Mason looks to bounce back from a 35-14 loss to Colerain.

When Fairfield has the ball...

Fairfield's offense has regressed in the past two weeks, failing to eclipse 200 yards after doing so in its first two games.

The triple option scheme stalled in the second half against Sycamore, going three-and-out in four of its six drives as the Indians squandered its second consecutive halftime lead.

Two underclassmen running backs — freshman Brian Cleckley (five carries, 58 yards) and sophomore Rayshawn Walton (five carries, 30 yards) — were the lone offensive bright spots last week, combining for 88 yards on 10 carries.

When Mason has the ball...

The Comets' most athletic player on offense, tailback Mychael Bembry, has been hobbled by a hamstring injury in recent weeks. But Mason coach David Sedmak said Bembry is "close to 100 percent" healthy.

Patrick Koman makes his fourth start at quarterback, and will look to get receiver Grant Lewis involved in the offense. Lewis caught eight balls for 79 yards against Withrow, but only had one catch for -1 yard last week against Colerain.

Quotable

"We thought we could've beaten all four of those teams. Just a mistake here and a mistake there that's killed us."
