Ohio Heritage Conference coaches support Rockhold
Tuesday, January 15, 2008
Although Greeneview boys' basketball coach Rocky Rockhold was suspended from coaching the Rams for the remainder of the 2007-08 season, fellow Ohio Heritage Conference coaches offered support of their colleague.
"The talent he's won with over the last couple of years has not been very good," Southeastern coach P.J. Bertemes said. "He's taken his players, put them in the right spots and they've won games. He is by far one of the best defensive coaches, year-in and year-out, in our area."
Extras
Rockhold won four OHC titles in seven seasons, including the 2007 title. The Rams also finished as a Division III district runner-up four times.
"I think he's done a lot of good for kids over the years," West Liberty-Salem coach Aaron Hollar said. "That's evident from watching his kids play. He's done a good job on the basketball court. I know his former players are loyal to him, which is a sign of respect."
Rockhold had his supplemental contract suspended Jan. 10 for using inappropriate language. The Rams were 2-8 at the time.
AP poll
Graham (11-0) is ranked fourth with two first-place votes in Division II in this week's state poll. It was third in last week's poll.
Catholic Central (7-1) is 16th in Division IV.
