MIDDLETOWN — Monroe High School's Jason Krause and Hilliard Davidson's Chip Abele are two of the five finalists for the Middletown head football coaching position.

Krause has been at the helm of the Hornets for the last four seasons (2004-07), compiling a record of 35-15. He's guided Monroe to three straight playoff appearances, as well as a Division IV regional championship (2005) and a Division III regional championship (2007).

Krause began his coaching career at Lockland High School (1997-2000). He then went to Stebbins (2000-04). In 2005, he was named Ohio's coach of the year, as well as the Southwest District coach of the year in Division IV.

Abele has been an assistant coach at Hilliard Davidson for the last nine seasons (1999-2007). He was part of the varsity staff in 2006 when the Wildcats won the Division I state championship.

He also spent two years at Groveport Madison (1997-98) and was a student-assistant coach at Capital University (1996).
