BASEBALL
MADISON 7, DAYTON CHRISTIAN 0 (six innings): Host Madison claimed a shutout win in a Division III sectional semifinal Thursday, May 15, over Dayton Christian. Rain stopped play in the sixth inning, with Madison having scored a run and with two more runners on base and nobody out. The final inning would have been played today, but in a sporting gesture, Dayton Christian's coach conceded the game. Johnny Burley tripled, Andy McCoppin drove in three runs, Ryan Manley scored three runs, Steve Johnson went 2-for-3, and Zach Hembree doubled and drove in two runs in Madison's victory. The Mohawks (17-7) await the winner of today's Badin-East Clinton game. The sectional final is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Centerville High School.

NORTHMONT 7, LEBANON 0: Adam Hutson hit two of the Warriors' three hits thanks to a perfect 2-for-2 performance, and Burt Wray hit a double in Lebanon's shutout loss Thursday, May 15, to host Northmont (25-3). Lebanon ends its season with an 18-9 record. Northmont is now 25-3.
SOFTBALL
CARLISLE 10, EAST CLINTON 0 (five innings): Desirae Bryant faced just 18 batters, gave up a pair of hits, walked one and struck out five to earn a Division III sectional semifinal win Thursday, May 15, over East Clinton. Lauren Back and Sam Shelton each went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Indians, and Elizabeth McKinney went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the win. The Indians (14-12) await the winner of today's Badin-Blanchester game. The sectional final is tentatively set to be played Monday at Monroe with the game time yet to be determined.
VOLLEYBALL
OAK HILLS 3, EDGEWOOD 0: Despite a 16-kill effort by the Cougars' Bryce Bednorz, a solid passing day by Isaak Claudio and a strong net play effort by Kenyon Grand, Edgewood fell to host Oak Hills in straight games 25-15, 25-14, 25-18 on Thursday, May 15. Oak Hills is the Greater Miami Conference's top team with a 17-4 overall record. Edgewood ends its regular season with a 7-17 mark. The Cougars open the postseason with a game Monday against Carroll at Trent Arena in Kettering.
