TRENTON — A car struck a school bus carrying Edgewood High School's football team en route to its game against Talawanda High School.

None of the 20 passengers on the bus, that included players and three coaches, were hurt in the crash that occurred at about 6:18 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in the 3900 block of Ohio 73, just a few miles west of Trenton. The football game was delayed, but is being played as scheduled.

According to Butler County Sheriff's Sgt. Randy Lambert, the bus was traveling west on Ohio 73 when an eastbound subcompact car driven by a 30-year-old male went left of center and struck the bus.

Lambert said the bus lost control and hit another compact car with two teenagers inside.

The occupants of both cars and the school bus driver were transported by ambulance to area hospitals.

Lambert said he was not sure of the injuries sustained, but said the driver of the car that struck the bus first was able to speak to deputies.

Edgewood football players and coaches aboard the school bus were transferred to a second bus and driven to Oxford for the game.
