KR's Dobie, Urbana's Ream qualify for state

MIDDLETOWN — Kenton Ridge's Ryan Dobie and Urbana's Brice Ream both qualified for the state bowling championships Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Southwest District Meet at Eastern Lanes.
Dobie bowled games of 257, 265 and 184 for a 706 series to finish fifth overall and take the third individual berth. Dobie became the first-ever Cougar bowler to qualify for the state tournament.

Kenton Ridge finished ninth as a team with a score of 4,972. Chris Via was 13th with a 674, Caleb Packer finished 53rd (604), Dustin Snyder placed 67th (578) and Drew Snyder was 96th (510).
"Ryan bowled well today, and we did well in the team events," said Kenton Ridge coach Flip Lucas. "We just didn't do well in the Baker games."
Ream bowled games of 289, 245 and 161 for a 695 series. Ream finished eighth overall and took the fourth individual berth. Travis VanHoose placed 11th with a score of 677, Caleb Belville was 48th (614), Wesley Carroll finished 56th (600) and Bradley Evans placed 86th (544).
The Hillclimbers finished seventh as a team with a score of 4,992.
Greenon's Scott Godby was 89th (531), and Brody Ramsey finished 90th (530).
Stebbins won the district title with a score of 5,472 and was paced by Johnathon Miller, who bowled a district-high series of 760.
The boys bowling state tournament will take place Friday, Feb. 29, at Tiki Lanes in Lancaster.
