Golden Bears Improve To 2-0
The sixth grade Golden Bears stayed perfect on the season with 28-6 victory over Guardian Angels. The Bears got on the board four minutes into the game on a Christopher Bucher touchdown. Following a GA turnover on their first possession, the Bears again cashed in for six on Christopher Stamper's touchdown run. Quarterback Joe Ruwe found Dan Shirk in the end zone for the two-point conversion as the Bears started to pull away.
Another GA turnover with a little under four minutes in the first half led to another Stamper touchdown and a 20-6 halftime lead for the Bears. Bucher added another touchdown with two minutes remaining in the game with Stamper converting on the two-point conversion.
The Bears defense, led by Tommy Reilly, Jake Wermes, Luke Guerekovich, John Toney, Ryan Shaver, Norman Gibson, Drew Asher, Ruwe, and Bucher, have allowed just two scores in two games.
Up front on offense, the Bears ran and passed behind Toney, Wermes, Mike Bair, Sean Connaughton, Brian Render, and Tommy Trimbach.
Lakota Team 20 Defeats Mason 12-0
Tomahawks Team 20 defeated Mason 12-0 on a rainy Wednesday evening to open the season 1-0. The 'Hawks took a 6-0 lead by scoring on the opening drive with a one yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Jack Nguyen. The key play of the drive was a 26-yard jaunt by Jonny Noyen to the one yard line.
Tyreek Price capped off the scoring late in the first quarter with a 25-yard sweep for a touchdown Nguyen connected on a 19-yard pass to tight end David Martinsen.
Alex Schultheiss led the defensive charge recording seven tackles and two passes defensed. Nolan Baker had four tackles and an interception, and Daniel Vail had a sack. Other Tomahawks recording tackles were: Jack Nguyen (3), Bradley Buller (3), Kobe Brown (2), Chase Wilkerson, Daniel Vail, Tyreek Price, Johnny Noyen, Nathan Wyatt, Justin Chase, Zach McDonough, and Jake Ulland.
Other players contributing to the victory were: Kyle Buchanan, Jonah Horsby, Brice Scott, Drew Allen, Jude Kuhn, Ryan Lazarus, Derek Dillon, Seth McAtee, Cole Savage, Joey Mitchell, Noah Zimmer, Chase Martini, and Joey Byrd.
The Tomahawks were cheered on by the Team 20 Cheerleaders: Katelyn Collins, Hailey Driggs, Makenzie Fullerton, Sydney Fullerton, Jessica Huber, Allison Kiddoo, Hunter McDonough, Morgan Mitchell, Ally Sharrock, Lisa Smudski, and Ashley Terrell.
K-1 Outlaws beat Hamilton
The West Chester Outlaws K-1 tangled with Hamilton Little Blue in a budding rivalry game. The Outlaws took their opening drive, controlling the clock for 10 plays capped off by a Jalal Sylvester 14-yard touchdown run. This impressive drive was made possible by a outstanding blocks by Breiland Anderson, Jared Deaton, Nathaniel McMillian, Isiah Stoker, Tom Mueller, Sebastian Miller, Gabriel Booker, and Trevor Howard.
The Outlaw defense led by Jackson Norman, Kevin Cain, Jaeden Scarborough, Jack Vrsansky, Jalen Alford, and Kamal Sylvester was just as fired up dropping Hamilton for losses on 3 consecutive plays on their first series. The very next offensive play Kellen Newman with a nice stiff arm bolted 45 yards for another Outlaw score.
The Silver and Black dominated the first half of play – while the offense scored twice the defense held Little Blue to minus 33 yards. The second half was a defensive battle with neither team scoring and the Outlaw's defense denying Little Blue from the 5 yard line as time ran out. Other players seeing action for the Outlaws were Logan Regg, Nico Brown, Jabari Ashford, Jaylon Stoker, Mark Ellis Green, Fernando Rivera, Kalen Dupee, Zack Ogletree, Lex Davisson, Keith Patterson, Mason Walker, and Noah Babcock.
The Lakota Tomahawks No. 6 beats Mason 24-0.
Team 6 opened the 2008 regular season with a shutout against the Mason Comets.
The Tomahawks had 244 total yards offense. Dante Jones got the scoring started with a 66-yard run for a touchdown. Jones led all rushers with 106 yards on 8 carries. Nick Dobroszi had a 65 and 35-yard rushing touchdown and ended the day with 105 yards rushing on 4 carries. Arturo Barrios added 6 points to the scoring with 3 perfect PAT's. Barrios also had 17 yards rushing. Noah Smith had 35 yards rushing. Other Team 6 offensive contributors were Austin Bohman, Jack Ballman and Jake Doran.
The Team 6 defense was outstanding, holding the Comets to (–21) yards total offense. Noah Smith and Cameron Junker both played well on the defensive side of the ball and had 5 tackles each. Brandon Giltrow, Eric Bradford, Andrew Huser and Colton McNear all had 3 tackles. Jonathan Lamson had two tackles and Nick Dobrozsi, Derek Kiser, Colin Kroeger, Sky Goodin, Grayson Getz, and Dante Jones each had one tackle. Keon Tillman had an interception.
